Barbara Sneed, 62, of Grantsburg and a former resident of Johnston City passed away 4:50 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2009 in Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

Barbara was born September 7, 1946 in Whittington to Ralph and Edith Louise (McCallister) Upchurch.

She married Leonard Sneed on May 28, 1964 in West Frankfort. Together they shared over 44 years of marriage.

Barbara retired from Marion Memorial Hospital where she worked in housekeeping for 20 years.

She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Benton.

She and Leonard enjoyed country line dancing together. She also enjoyed taking pictures and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard Sneed of Grantsburg; daughter, Kim Manier and husband Jim of Grantsburg; son, Darrin Sneed and wife Rachel of Johnston City; four grandchildren, Jamie Manier of Grantsburg, Justine Hope of Johnston City, Gregory and Shawn Sneed of Johnston City; two brothers, Marvin Upchurch of St. Charles, MO., George Upchurch of Orient; two sisters, Delores Burgess of Benton, Erma Herrick and husband Jim of Farina; sister-in-law, Eugenia Schwartz of Mt. Vernon; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Loren and James Richard Upchurch.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2009 in Pyle Funeral Home Johnston City with Rev. Brad Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Kirk Cemetery in Ina.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday in Pyle Funeral Home.
