Marilyn Sue (Henry) Speck
Marilyn Sue Speck, 73, of Granite City, Ill., born Nov. 22, 1935, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Maryville Manor in Maryville, Ill. Mrs. Speck had worked for 12 years as a customer service representative with the Civil Service and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Granite City, Ill. She enjoyed watching the St. Louis Blues Hockey. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin E. Speck, whom she married in 1965 in Nashville, Ill. and who died in 1988; her parents, Clarence L. and Mildred Mae, nee Hite, Henry; and a sister, Janetta M. Henry. Surviving are her son, Scott E. Speck of Granite City, Ill.; a grandson, Jacob Sparks of House Springs, Mo.; two brothers, Gary M. Henry of Vandalia, Ill., and Thomas W. Henry of Nashville, Ill.; other extended family and many dear friends. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be accepted at the funeral home. Visitation: Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill. Funeral: Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the chapel with the Rev. Steve Kendrick officiating. Private burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
