Evelyn Maxine Stewart, 83, of Glen Rose, Texas, formerly of Mt. Vernon, died 5:35 a.m. Aug. 13, 2002, at Glen Rose Medical Center Nursing Center, Glen Rose, Texas.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Stewart was born April 14, 1919, in Jefferson County to Terrell Edward and Mabel Ann (Quinn) Wells.

She married Allen Lavern Stewart June 6, 1940 in Mt. Vernon; he died Aug. 7, 2002.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at South Hickory Hill Cemetery. Mr. Wayne Stewart will officiate. Those attending this service are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by one daughter, Tedra Ann Simpson and husband Tom of Glen Rose, Texas; six grandchildren, Tamra Jo Hajny, Tera Dawn Brown, Tom Simpson Jr., Brad Simpson, Bill Simpson and Suzanne Jones; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Wells

She was a member of the Church of Christ in West Plains, Mo.

Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one son, Patrick Allen Stewart.
