Nellie R. Stewart, 105, a resident of Jeffersonian Nursing Home and a former resident of 209 S. Sixth St., died 6:45 p.m. Nov. 15, 1988, at the nursing home.

Mrs. Stewart was born June 10, 1883, in Jefferson County, a daughter of John and Martha (Mathus) Russell.

Dec. 26, 1901, in St. Louis, she married William F. Stewart, who died June 29, 1952.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Buss Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by several nieces and nephews including: Robert M. Russell and Carlton E. Russell, both of Mt. Vernon, Raymond Russell of Dixon, Maurine Sechrest of Mazon and Florence Watkins of Princeton, IN.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of East Side Baptist Church and a charter member of the Sunshine Center. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Russell; two brothers; and one sister.
