John Stonecipher

John Stonecipher, a most excellent citizen, died at his home in Field township, this county, at 8:00 o'clock this morning. He had been ill but a few days, and was in town the day after New Year transacting business, and, as was his custom, called at the Register Office.

Mr. Stonecipher was a radical Republican and took a deep interest in political affairs, and for a man of his age kept himself well informed.

He was an active member of the church and lived a consistent Christian life.

For over half a century he had lived in this county, coming here at the age of 20 years.

He was seventy years old and a member of the G. A. R. The last time he was in town he paid hid Grand Army dues to Capt. Moss, remarking that it was the one dollar he owed to anyone. He was a good soldier and very proud of his connection with the Grand Army.

The funeral will take place at Hopewell tomorrow at 11 o'clock.
