Chauncey L. Strattan
C. L. Strattan, Former Mt. V. Merchant, Dies Chauncey L. Strattan, a well known Mt. Vernon resident, died at 8:00 this morning at his home, 324 north Eighth street . His age was 68 years, 11 months and 16 days. Mr. Strattan and his brother, Keith, were in the hardware business for many years at a north Ninth street store founded by their father, R. L. Strattan. Mr. Strattan later was associated with the Illinois State Highway Department as a civil engineer. He was born April 11, 1883 in Mt. Vernon , the son of R. L. and Mary E. (Jones) Strattan. He was married November 19, 1913 to Martha E. Courtney, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter Barbara, and a sister, Mrs. Olivia P. Swift of Carlilnville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Father W. W. Swift officiating, and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Friday.
