AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS

Death Relieves Mrs. Eliza Strattan of Pain, Early Saturday Morning.

Death came to Mrs. Eliza Strattan, wife of the late Capt. S. T. Strattan, at 2:30 Saturday morning.

The illness of Mrs. Strattan was due to a complication of ailments was lingering and painful. While holding out a hope that she might recover she was willing to leave this earth, to be freed from physical pain, and live everlastingly in the realms of joy in the new world where trouble and sorrow enter not.

Mr. Strattan was a model Christian a loving and cheerful character, carrying sunshine in her every day walks of life. Since early childhood she lived a Christian and when quite young joined the M.E. church and lived constantly by the teachings of that branch of religion.

Mrs. Strattan was born in Wabash county in 1842 and at the time of her death was 61 years of age. Her Maiden name was Koser.

On the 18th of March 1882 she was united in marriage to Capt. S. T. Strattan who preceded her to the Great Beyond.

In her illness she was given every possible attention by loving friends and relatives, but none was more attentive and kind than her niece, Miss May Roedel, who has for some time made her home with her.

The funeral will be held Monday at the First M. E. church at 2:30 p.m. and will be conducted by Rev. J. A. Taylor followed by interment at Oakwood.

Mrs Strattan leaves four sisters, Mrs. J. N. Johnson of the city, Mrs. C. D. Be Dell, Mt Carmel; Mrs. J. H. Wilson, Owensville , Ind ; Mrs. Carl Roedel, Shawneetown, and three brothers Will, Charles and Samuel Koser, of Winterset, Ia.

The body will be in state at the First M. E. church Monday from 9 to 12 and the casket will not be opened at the close of the funeral services.
