Larry Dale Sumner
Larry Dale Sumner, 60, of Texico, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at his home. He was born in Eldorado on Oct. 8, 1947, a son of Leuty' Gene Sumner and Sarah Eleanor Hamblin. He married Mary Rector on Dec. 7, 1968, at New Hope (Webb) Baptist Church, and she survives in Texico. He retired from General Tire after 31 1/2 years of service. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Allen Smith and Buck Larson officiating. Burial followed at Harmony Cemetery. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by daughters, Lisa Tindall of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kimberly Bates and husband Scott of Benton; grandchildren, Wyatt and Kacy of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Deryck and Ryleigh of Benton; five meces and nephews; and a sister, Rita Delatore and husband Ray of Texico. He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1965 and was a veteran of the u.S. Army. He enjoyed "inission trips with Carpenters for Christ and was a member of New Hope (Webb) Baptist Church. He was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and Christian Motorcycle Association.
