Florence Nellie (Schrum) Summers, 92, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:42 pm March 17, 2020 at Mount Vernon Health Care Center with her family by her side.

She was born August 9, 1927 in Belle Rive, Illinois to the late Chandler and Ruth Schrum.

Florence married Dallas Billy Summers on January 11, 1949 in Morrison, Illinois. They were blessed with 70 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 22, 2019.

Florence is survived by her sons, Barry Summers of Irvington, Illinois and Rickey Summers and wife, Rhonda of Opdyke, Illinois; daughters, Cindy Taylor and husband, John of Centralia, Illinois and Robin Peek and husband, Stanley of Rosamond, California; grandchildren, Tonya Dey, Dustin Summers, Lindsi Summers, D-Shea Summers Dickey, Stephanie Skurat, Crystal Brant, Shanda McMillan, Ryan Summers, Michelle Summers, and Raven Ament; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and family of caregivers at Mount Vernon Health Care Center.

In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by her son, Dallas Summers; grandson, Dallas Anthony Summers; and siblings, Pete, Cecil, Benny, Bob, Iva Mae, Eva, Onieda, and Alice.

Florence worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Mount Vernon, Dowzer Electric, and the Mount Vernon Register News. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A private family gathering will be held.
