She was the cornerstone of her family and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. However, her family realizes that she was joyously welcomed home by her Savior and those family and friends that preceded her in death.

Edith was born on May 30, 1920, to Albert E. and Cora Culli in Mt. Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert E. and Cora Culli; two sisters, Dorothy Culli and Alice Harpole; two brothers, Edwin and Virgil Culli; and one infant son.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edward L. Sursa of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Edward W. Sursa and wife Sheila of Corbin, Ky., Tommy Ray Sursa and wife Mary Jane of Dix, and Don Neal Sursa of Pekin; and one daughter, Debra Ellen Moser and fiance Danny Scarber of Mt. Vernon; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church for 69 years and was active as a Sunday School teacher and choir member during that time.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be at Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church on Route 37 South of Mt. Vernon on Tuesday, Jan. 2 from 6 p.m. on. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Bakerville Free Will Church with Rev. Bob Stone and Rev. Russell Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church for the Edith Caroline Sursa Memorial Bell Tower fund.
