Alberta M. (Odle) Sweetin
Alberta M. Sweetin, 82, of Ina died 12:30 a.m. Feb. 16, 2005, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. She was certified with Women in State Government for serving as village clerk in Ina for 18 years and township clerk for 20 years. Mrs. Sweetin was born July 30, 1922, in Ina to Arthur and Ada (King) Odle. She married Orvel Sweetin Dec. 3, 1938, in Jackson, Mo.; he preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Ina Free Will Baptist Church. The Revs. Brad Ryan and David Shores will officiate. Burial will follow at Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Johnston Funeral Home in Ina and after 1 p.m. Sunday at Ina Free Will Baptist Church for a praise service. Mrs. Sweetin is survived by a daughter, Kay Slamans and husband Tom of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Irvin Odle of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a sister, Ella Laura Bierbaum of East Alton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Jack Sweetin and Lenard Sweetin; a sister; and a brother. Mrs. Sweetin was a member of Ina Free Will Baptist Church. She tested and scored high for cooking. She was a cook at Ina Grade School, Bonnie Camp, Camp Hope and Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park at Rend Lake.
