Steven E. Tate, 64, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois left his earthly body on Monday, February 26, 2024, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

He was born on May 31, 1959, to the late Edward and Phyllis (Edmison) Tate.

Steve was kind, funny and a good time Charlie, who never met a stranger. He loved model cars, music and cold beer. He made many friends over the years and always had a good story to tell. Steve was a family man who did the best he could with what he had. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed.

Steve is survived by his wife, Lora (Batson) of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son, Jeremy (Katie) Batson of Centralia Illinois; daughters, Amber Tate- (Josh) Heaton of Bonnie Illinois, Stephanie (Jason) Davis of Carlyle Illinois; grandchildren, Riley and Lincoln Davis of Carlyle Illinois, Lilly Batson of Centralia, Illinois; sister, Missy Tate of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Joe Tate of Knoxville, TN and many nieces, nephews and loved family members.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Terry Owens; brother, Randall Tate and his loyal companions, Boo Bear, Daya, Mannie and Red.

Per Steve’s request there will be no services at this time.

“Closing time, every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.”

Professional Services were Entrusted to Southern Cremation and Burial Services of Murphysboro, Illinois.
