Donald R. Taylor, 76, of Belle Rive passed away at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser ' with the Rev. Robert Lee Hill officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Good Samaritan or the National kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Donald was born Aug. 21, 1935, in West Frankfort, a son of Ralph Henry and Altha “Billie” (Clark) Taylor. He married Peggy (Williams) on June 22, 1958, she preceded him in death on June 6, 2007

Don was a retired barber, having owned and operated Taylor’s Barber Shop in Dahlgren and Mt. Vernon for 51 years. He attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

Don was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his son, Rick Taylor and wife Sue of Woodlawn: brother, Larry Taylor and wife Bonnie of Benton; special friend, Norma Lee Bourland of Mt. Vernon; brother-in-law, Larry Williams and wife Linda of Mt. Vernon; sister-in-law, Janice Williams of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was precedes in death by his wife Peggy; parents; brother-in-law, Albert Williams; and niece, Katie Williams.
