Anna Mariah (Coover) Thompson

Following an illness of a year, and a more critical condition of some four weeks, heart failure caused the somewhat sudden, but not wholly unexpected death last night at 9 o'clock of Mrs. E. Thompson at the residence 500 South 18th Street.

Mrs. Thompson seemed almost as well as usual yesterday up to the hour of her death, and had eaten dinner with the family, also had taken light nourishment at supper. At nine o'clock while sitting on the side of the bed, one of the "smothering spells" which she frequently experienced came on and she fell back onto the bed and expired within a few moments.

Mrs. Thompson was a Miss Anna M. Coover and was born in Columbus, Ohio, May 4, 1850.

She was married to E. Thompson at Pinckneyville, Ill., August 8, 1868.

Ten children were born to this union, four surviving, Will Thompson, Chas Thompson of the News, Mrs. John Wetzer of the city, Mrs. Walter Cowger of the country. There are also fourteen grandchildren.

The funeral will take place from the residence at _____ o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. W. McAdoo conducting the services.

Mrs. Thompson's death is a shock in the whole community by whom she was greatly esteemed as a lovable Christian woman.
