Melissa Ann Thouvenin, 31, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was born in Centralia on July 12, 1977, a daughter of Wilbur and Kathy (Helsing) Thouvenin.

She was a cutter at Graphic Packaging. She lived three years in Mt. Vernon; prior to that she lived in Centralia.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Posey Cemetery. Interment will follow with military honors by the VFW Post 2055 and American Legion Post 4066. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday or after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Thouvenin is survived by her mother, Kathy Parkhill of West Frankfort; sister, Daytha Roper and husband Travis of Centralia; brother, Ronnie Eugene Thouvenin of West Frankfort; life partner, Julie Decker of Mt. Vernon; niece, Mackenzie Roper of Centralia; and nephew, Harley Roper of Centralia.

She was preceded in death by her father.For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation and the Humane Society.

Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia is in charge of arrangements.
