Jennie H. (Ragan) Pigg Tilton
Mrs. J. H. TILTON was born October 2, 1857 in Jefferson County, where most of her life was spent. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. RAGAN, both died a number of years ago. Mrs. TILTON was twice married; first to W. P. PIGG, (better known as Press) they were married October 1, 1876, and to this union were born eleven children, 9 girls and 2 boys, seven died. The surviving are Mrs. Winnie ADKINS, Mattoon, IL, Mrs. Ida M. HALL, Mt. Vernon, IL, Mrs. Jessie PEARCE and Mrs. Bessie MOORE of Benton, IL, and a number of grandchildren. The surviving brothers are Sam, Allen, Edward RAGAN of Mt. Vernon and James RAGAN, Medicine Lodge, Kan., one sister, Mrs. W. O. WHITSELL, Mt. Vernon. Mrs. TILTON was married to J. H. TILTON in 1913 in Mt. Carmel, IL, they lived their several years. From there they moved to Prescott, Ark., where they lived until a few months ago on account of Mrs. TILTON's poor health they came to Mt. Vernon where they bought a little home on the Richview Road. Mrs. TILTON was a lovable woman; she numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She was converted in the Tenth Street M. E. Church a number of years ago and remained a faithful Christian woman until her death.
