Clyde Tucker
Clyde R. Tucker, 75, Mt. Vernon, died 3:45 a.m. May 23, 1991, at Crossroads Community Hospital. Mr. Tucker was retired from City of Mt. Vernon Water Department. He was born Nov. 6, 1915, in Ewing, a son of Turner and Minnie (Murphy) Tucker. Oct. 19, 1940, in Jackson, Mo., he married Kloe K. Dawson, who survives. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Auxier officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Tucker is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Tim (Carla J.) Ellis of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Earl Tucker of Ewing, Grover Tucker and wife, Maxine, of Mt. Vernon, and Harold Tucker of Whittington; two grandchildren, Craig Mullins and Timothy Ellis; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Tucker was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of East Salem Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, of V.F.W. Post 1376 of Mt. Vernon, and of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 702 of West Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his parents.
