James E. Tuttle
James E. TUTTLE of Ina died 7:15 p.m. September 30, 2003 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was a retired bird dog trainer and had been owner and operator of the nationally known Oak Grove Training Kennels. He was prominent in field trial circuits from the American South to Canada. Mr. Tuttle was the son of Claude W. and Dora C. (Herman) Tuttle. He married Alma L. (Lee) Tuttle May 18, 1950 in Marion; she died August 21, 2002. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, The Rev. Dale Burzynski will officiate. Burial will follow in Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Tuttle is survived by a son, James L. Tuttle of Ina; a daughter, Diane Payne and husband Randy of Wayne City; sisters Claudean Tuttle of Godfrey and Marjorie E. Boucher of Dallas, TX; and a niece, Susan Boucher of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Mr. Tuttle was a veteran of the U. S. Army Canine Corp and served as a trainer during World War II. He was baptized into the Southern Baptist Church. He was a past president of the Ruritan Club at Ina.
