Barney V. Vance Dies at Bluford; Rites Wednesday Barney V. Vance, 71, a Bluford merchant, died Sunday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at his home in Bluford. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock in the Bluford Baptist church. The Rev. Arthur Grigg will officiate and burial will be in Laird Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Richardson Chapel in Wayne City, where friends may call after five o'clock this afternoon. The body will be removed to the church at 12:30 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Vance was born in Jefferson county on January 5, 1888 to Jason and Fannie (Dodson) Vance. On October 21, 1915, he married Lena Butler, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Byron Vance, Bluford; one step-son, Rozier Kirby, Vera, Ill; one daughter, Pearl Green, Okawville, Ill.; one step-daughter, Bernice Young, Beason, Ill.; and one sister, Winnie Haines, Mt. Vernon. Eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive.
