Mattie Vaughn - Mt. Vernon

Mrs. Mattie Ann (Hoofer) Vaughn, 69, of Mt. Vernon, a former Nason resident, died at 12:05 a.m. yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Fry Funeral Home in Waltonville, with the Rev. Tracy Dees officiating. Burial will be in Abner cemetery in Nason.

Mrs. Vaughn was born in Kentucky on April 3, 1905, the daughter of Finley and JoAnn (McGee) Donaldson.

She was married to James Hoofer in Marion in 1922. He preceded her in death in 1946.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

She is survived by two sons, Fred Hoofer, of Laramie, Wyo., and James Hoofer Jr., of the United States Air Force in Hawaii; three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Bushong of Waltonville, Mrs. Della Koutnik of Dwight, Neb., and Mrs. Jean Morgan of Colorado; 13 grandchildren,, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter.
