Bobby Joe Voyles Sr. 49, of Dix, died at 12:32 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at his home.

He was born on April 16, 1955, in Fairfield, son of James Louie and Mattie Josephine (Hinton) Voyles.

He married Cathy Meadows and she survives in Dix.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Voyles is survived by a son, Bobby Joe Voyles Jr. and wife Mandy of Dix; two daughters, Crystal Buretta and husband Duane of Woodlawn and Debbie Whitlock and husband Ed of Mt. Vernon; three brothers James Voyles of Alton, David Voyles and wife Barbara of Wayne City, and Tom Voyles and wife Kathy of Wayne City; three sisters, Kim Merchant and husband Clint of Collinsville, Ann Tourville and husband William of Freeburg and Mary Lee Hooper of Collinsville; eight grandchildren, Haylee Whitlock, Billy Whitlock, Nathan Whitlock, Hunter Voyles, Ashley Voyles, Gunnar Buretta, Holly Buretta and Caitlin Buretta; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Knecht. Mr. Voyles was a mechanic for Quayles Service in O'Fallon. He was of the Baptist faith.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with the Rev. Olen Weatherford officiating. Interment will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
