Hubert Henry Waite
Henry Waite, Taxi Operator, Is Dead Hubert Henry Waite, well known Mt. Vernon taxicab operator, died at 3:00 p.m., yesterday at his home, 917 Taylor Avenue, after a long illness. His age was 66 years and 26 days. Mr. Waite, who operated a taxi business here for many years, retired over a year ago because of failing health. He had been critically ill for the past two months. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m., at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. C.H. Todd officiating, and burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call at any time until the funeral hour. Mr. Waite had been a resident of Mt. Vernon for the past 50 years. He was born August 9, 1880 in Jefferson county, the son of James and Susie (Warren) Waite. On January 15, 1901 he was married to Minnie Farmer, who survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Warren Waite of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. Aline Bennett of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Terry of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Ruth Fordyce of Sunnyside, Washington; and three grandchildren.
