John Robert Warren
John Robert Warren, 76, of Nampa, Idaho, was taken home to Jesus Feb. 20, 2006, after losing his courageous battle with acute myelogenous leukemia. He passed away at his home surrounded by loving members of his family. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho, with military rites by the U.S. Marine Corps. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Nampa First Church of the Nazarene. The family will greet friends at a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Mr. Warren was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Bluford, where he also grew up and graduated from high school at age 16. He met and married Janet (Hawkins) Warren of Mt. Vernon, spent four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, worked on the Illinois Central Railroad in Bluford, attended Southern Illinois University and completed a BSEE at the University of Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Warren spent 20 years in Chino, Calif., where he worked in the aerospace/missile industry and the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Fire Laboratory at Riverside, Calif. In 1977, he transferred to the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho, as a R&D electronics engineer, retiring in 1994. Mr. and Mrs. Warren took the time to enjoy the family (kids, grandkids and great-grandkids) on trips around the U.S., five driving trips to Alaska and numerous campouts. Mr. Warren was the number one fan at his grandchildren’s sporting events, recitals or participation in No Greater Love at the First Church of the Nazarene. The Fourth of July has been an annual gathering of family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Warren celebrated a joyous 55th wedding anniversary Dec. 31, 2005. Mr. Warren lived the true meaning of a Christian husband, father, grandpa and friend. He was loved by all who had the privilege to know him and be touched by his wisdom, kindness and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Nampa, Idaho; four children, Steven C. Warren of Apple Valley, Calif., Diana L. Allison and husband Phil of Nampa, Idaho, Julie A. Flowers of Nampa, Idaho, and Christopher J. Warren of Nampa, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, Steven, Derek and Brandon Warren, Christy Ratliff, Jade Warren, Ben Carrillo, Heidi, Chelsea and Kymberlee Larsen and Kyle, Emily and Carter Warren; a stepgrandson, Carl Baugher; and three great-grandchildren, Dru and Tre’von Smart and Isaiah John Carrillo. In addition, he has two surviving sisters, Irene Lovin and husband Harvey and Margie Hess, both of Mt. Vernon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Warren will be deeply missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mae Warren, and an older brother, James Warren.
