Dr. George William Waters

Dr. George Waters Of Mt. Vernon Died At Age 89

Dr. George William Waters D.D.S., 89, of Mt. Vernon died Jan. 15, 1998, at his residence.

He was a dentist.

Mr. Waters was born Aug. 16, 1908, in Belle Rive, a son Orley and Lena (Chaney) Waters.

Nov. 9, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, he married Martha Ann (King) Waters, who preceded him in death.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Newell Funeral Home with Father Robert Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Jordan Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Newell Funeral Home.

Mr. Waters is survived by one daughter, Mary Nelle and husband David Campbell of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Orley Morton Waters of Mt. Vernon and George Chapman Waters and wife Nancy of Barrington; four granddaughters, Sarah (Campbell) and husband Scott Rosenberg of Hendersonville, Tenn., Susan Campbell of Mt. Vernon, Erin Campbell of Mt. Vernon and Jobeth Waters of Barrington; one grandson, Chapman Davis Waters of Barrington.

He was of the Protestant faith. He served as a captain in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Elks Lodge 819, Whipoorwill Club, past president of the Jefferson County Dental Society and a member of American Prosthodontic Society.

Mr. Waters was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Martha Waters; his brother, Dr. Jack Waters; and his sister, Ferne Williams.

For those who wish, memorials may be made in his memory to the Trinity Episcopal Church, Mt. Vernon.
