Elmer M. Waud
Elmer M. Waud, of the Fairfield Road, died at 6:20 pm Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 71 years and 11 months of age. Mr. Waud was a carpenter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Hopewell Church, with the Rev. Bird Green and the Rev. L. A. Adams officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 3:30 pm Tuesday. Mr. Waud was born January 28, 1881 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Robert G. and Mary Elizabeth (Burton) Waud. He was a lifetime resident of this city. He was first married to Cordie Rosalie Hindes, who died in 1920. On March 1, 1930 he was married to Vandalia, to Jewel Deitz, who survives Mr. Waud was a member of the Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, the Rev. Gilbert B. Waud of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Compton of South Bend, Ind. and Mrs. Pauline Stovall of Fairfield; two sisters, Mrs. Ott Latta of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. J. R. Latta of Bluford; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
