Mrs. Bertha Hartley Wells, devoted wife of Dr. J. W. Wells, departed this life Jan. 17, 1914, aged 30 years, 11 months and 19 days.

She was the daughter of W. H. and Anna Hartley, of Ina, Ill.

She was born Jan 29, 1883. She was united in marriage to Dr. J. W. Wells, April 24, 1912.

She leaves to mourn her departure a devoted father, mother and husband, also one sister, Mrs. Estella Moore, of Benton, Ill., and one brother Harl Hartley of New Baden, Ill.

She also leaves a sweet little baby girl born but a few hours before its mother passed away. It sleeps sweetly upon the couch, unconcious of its great loss.

The death of Mrs. Wells came so suddenly that it left a deep wound in the hearts of her relatives and many friends. Just in the noontide of life, loved by all who knew her, her passing from earth was like a beautiful flower that came forth with the first rays of the morning light, carrying with it the freshness of the morning dew, but whose resplendent beauty and loveliness perished with the noonday sun, and passed from earth amid its beauty and loveliness.

There is comfort in the thought that we can meet her again in that beautiful home where angels and purified spirits dwell.
