Lorinda (Farthing) Wells
FORMER RESIDENT DIED SUNDAY IN JOHNSON CITY Mrs. Lorinda Wells, formerly a prominent resident of Elk Prairie township, died at 7 o'clock Sunday evening at the home of a son W. P. Wells, in Johnston City. Mrs. Wells was born in Elk Prairie township 84 years ago, a daughter of William and Lydia Farthing, among the best known families in the early history of Jefferson county. Nearly all of her life was spent in the same township where she was regarded as one of the finest women of the locality. She was the widow of Harvey Wells, for years one of the most familiar figures in affairs of this township. In addition to the son at whose home she died, Mrs. Wells is survived by another son, Gay Wells of Nason: a sister, Mrs. Wilda Bean of Ina; and a brother, Buchanan Farthing of Colorado. Short funeral services will be held in Johnston City at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, after which the final rites will be held at South Hickory Hill church, beginning shortly after 12 o'clock noon. Interment will be made in the South Hickory Hill cemetery.
