Marietta Faye Wells 84, of Bonnie, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Faye was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Waltonville, the daughter of Joseph and Vesta (Dees) Wilson.

Faye married Everett Ward Wells, Sr. on May 30, 1947, in Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1998.

Faye was a caseworker for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services until retirement.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Brother Albert Hampton officiating. Interment will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery in rural Mt. Vernon. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Faye is survived by two granddaughters, Stephanie and husband Terry McCabe of Park Ridge and Andi Felty of Bonnie and fiancée Kevin Jackson of Mulkeytown; three great-grandsons, Brandon, Jakob and Christian Felty; one great-granddaughter, Riley McCabe; one brother, Bill Wilson and wife Jesse of Walnut Hill; one brother-in-law, Tom Wells and wife Pat of Arizona; and also three sisters-in-law; Harriet Wilson, Mildred Wilson and Geraldine Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett Ward Wells, Sr.; son, Everett Ward Wells Jr.; daughter, Monica Gayle Newell; four brothers, Gayle Wilson, Glenn “Mutt” Wilson, Byford Wilson and Lowell Wilson; and one sister, Vivian Ballard and husband Melvin.
