ROBERT C. WELLS DIES IN FRANKLIN HOSPITAL

Robert C. Wells, 86, of Sesser died Saturday afternoon in Franklin Hospital, Benton.

He was born Oct. 9, 1882 the son of John and Jane Clampet Wells.

Mr. Wells married Ida Ulrey, who died in 1961.

He later married Dell Chalfant Downen.

Mr. Wells is survived by his wife, Dell; a daughter, Mrs. Ceola Stoafer of Centralia; a son Warren of Granite City; stepdaughters, Mrs. Lynette Chapman of West Frankfort, Mrs. Delores Carpenter of West Frankfort and Mrs. Vurtes Harrison of Richmond, Calif.; a stepson, Bill Downen of Richmond, Calif.; three grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Brayfield Funeral Chapel in Sesser with the Rev. Robert Barker and the Rev. Dwight Dame officiating. Burial will be in the Old Baptist Cemetery near Sesser. Friends may call at the funeral home.
