Andrew West
Andrew WEST, well known retired carpenter, collapsed and died suddenly at 7:50 o'clock Saturday night at his home, 805 South Tenth Street. His death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. WEST, a resident of this city for the past 45 years, was 77 years and eight months of age. Coroner Ben ROEDER conducted a brief inquiry and found his death due to "natural causes". Mr. WEST, his wife Lena, and son Eugene were at home when Mr. WEST collapsed. His son helped him to a chair and he died before a physician arrived. He had been in ill health for some time. Funeral services were hld at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon at Myers Chapel, conducted by Geo. P. RUTLEDGE and burial followed in Cubb Cemetery. Mr. WEST was born July 2, 1862. In 1901 he was united in marriage with Lena OLIVER, who survives him. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ and was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the local carpenter's union. Surviving besides his widow, are two sons, Albert WEST of Alton and Eugene WEST of Mt. Vernon; and two daughters, Mrs. Geneva McDANIEL of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Arch VANHORN of Mt. Vernon.
