Robert Lee "Bob" West, 73, of Mt. Vernon died 7 p.m. Oct. 23, 2004, at his home.

Mr. West was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Olney, a son of Bert and Flossie (Frankland) West.

He married Ann C. (Vuick) West March 19, 1980, in Olney; she survives.

Also surviving are five children, five stepchildren, several grandchildren and step-grandchildren and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Mr. West was a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Claremont.

He was a veteran, serving in the Navy from Oct. 18, 1950, to Aug. 3, 1954.

In the early 1970's he became superintendent and supervised and operated the Mt. Vernon Rescue Mission until he retired in April of this year due to his illness.

Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at KirkCemetery in Ina, with the Rev. Ted Anderson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon.
