John M. Wetzer Dies Saturday At Age 70 Years. John Martin Wetzer of 1914 Richview Road, died at Good Samaritan Hospital at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, at the age of 70 years, nine months and seven days. Mr. Wetzer was a farmer and a moulder at the Mt. Vernon Furnance Co. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's church. Father Brandemeyer will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary was said at 8:00 p.m. Sunday. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call. Mr. Wetzer was born April 1, 1884, in McLeansboro, the son of Martin and Anna (Leffler) Wetzer. He was married to Goldie Belle Thompson, who preceded him in death in 1922. Mr. Wetzer was a member of St. Mary's church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Velma Dare of Little Rock, Arkansas; Mrs. Hallien Payne of Chicago; Mrs. Viola Hancock of Mt. Carmel and Mrs. Anna Marie Hill and Mrs.Ruth Hodges of Mt. Vernon; one son Charles W. Wetzer of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Butler and Mrs. Emma Sursa of Oreville, California and Mrs. Ann Hardwick of Mt. Carmel; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren."
