Doris Leona Whalen, 70, of Lodi, Calif., died 8:30 a.m. Aug. 10, 1996, at the home of her son in Joliet.

She was employed at Illinios Bell Telephone Co., in Joliet and at the AT&T Bell Lab in Naperville.

Mrs. Whalen was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Bluford, a daughter of Alfred and Jewell (Williams) Davis.

April 24, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, she married Noel Clark Whalen, who survives.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Hefner officiating. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery, Wayne City.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whalen is survived by her husband, Noel C. Whalen of Lodi, Calif.; daughter Sandra Bauer and husband Horst of Morgan Hill, Calif.; son, Gary Whalen and wife Jo Ann of Joliet; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Marjorie Holloway and husband Jim of San Jose, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Lodi Avenue Baptist Church in Lodi, Calif.

She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

Mrs. Whalen was preceded in death by her parents.

For those who wish memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the Hughey Funeral Home.
