Roy Elmer Whalen
Roy Whalen, Wayne County Native Dies Roy E. Whalen, 80, Rochelle, Ill., died yesterday at his home. He was a native of Wayne county. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Unger Funeral Home in Rochelle. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Guy Roney officiating at Mt. Zion (Farnsworth) cemetery south of Keenes. The Bluford Funeral Home will be in charge. Mr. Whalen was born June 10, 1886, in Wayne county, the son of John and Mary (Maulding) Whalen. He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors: He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. *Note from Sandy: Roy died 23 Feb 1967 and left my dad Noel Clark Whalen as executor of his estate. I bought my first car from Roy's estate - a light blue 1953 Chevy. Roy never married.
