Ivan Whitson, 86, Texico, died at 2:55 a.m. Feb. 13, 1988, at Doctor’s Nursing Home in Salem.

Mr. Whitson was born May 1, 1901, in Jefferson County, a son of John and Bell (Williams) Whitson.

He married Verneda Lisenby, who died in 1950. (NOTE: actually 1951).

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with the Rev. Rolla Eller officiating. Burial will follow in East Salem Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Whitson is survived by one son, Bill Whitson and wife Emma of Sallisaw, Okla.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Whitson of Granite City; and one sister, Rocksy Minor of Texico.

Mr. Whitson was employed with Mt. Vernon Car Shops and Randall Stone Quarry.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Bessie Beal, Maggie Knauss and Meda Eller; one brother, Bert Whitson; and one infant son, Marvin Whitson.
