Nell C. (Clifton) Williams
Nell C. Williams, 83, of rural Opdyke in the Marlow community, died 8:10 p.m. Aug. 17, 1999, at her home. Mrs. Williams was an instructor at Florsheim Shoe Co. for 40 years until retirement. She was born June 3, 1916, in Jefferson County, a daughter of George W. and Alma (Laird) Clifton. Nov. 8, 1936, in Benton, she married Paul V. Williams, who died March 26, 1989. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home, with Randy Sells officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home. Survivors include Mrs. WIlliams' sister Margaret Shelton of Opdyke; special friends, Bill and Janet Smith and children of Opdyke; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Williams was of the Methodist faith. She was a longtime member of Jefferson Chapter Order of Eastern Star 686 at Opdyke and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Noble Shelton.
