Norman G. Williams
Norman G. Williams, 62, of Mt. Vernon, died 9:34 p.m. February 7, 2002 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He worked at General Radiator for 28 years and was a former machinist labor union representative president. Most recently, he was a correctional officer at Jefferson County Sheriff’s department until retirement. Mr. Williams was born June 7, 1939, in Garden Prairie to Morlen and Ruth (Hawkins) Williams. He married Judy Dalby September 11, 1959 in Mt. Vernon. She survives. Funeral services will be held Sunday at Panther Fork Baptist Church. The Rev. John Ashby and Chaplain Dan Lovin will officiate. Burial will be at Panther Fork Cemetery. Mr. Williams was a member of Panther Fork Baptist Church. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the church. A law enforcement walk-through will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Williams is survived by 2 sons, Gary Williams and wife Eileen of Woodlawn and James Williams and wife Vonna of Florissant, MO; a daughter, Dee Allen and husband Jeff of Florissant, MO; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Germaine Bowdler of Texico and Beverly Brown and husband Bill of Ft. Mitchell, AL; father-in-law and mother-in-law Don and Ruth Dalby of Mt. Vernon. His parents preceded him in death.
