Paul Virgil Williams
Paul V. Williams, 75, Opdyke, died 11:20 p.m. March 2, 1989, at his home. Mr. Williams was retired after having been an employee of Vernois Inc. for 45 years. Mr. Williams was born May 19, 1913, in Jefferson County, a son of J.I. and Anna (Marlow) Williams. Nov. 8, 1936, in Benton, he married Nell C. Clifton, who survives. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Irvin Brookman and the Rev. Richard Scott officiating. Burial will follows in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by American Legion Post 141 and VFW Post 1376, both of Mt. Vernon. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home by Jefferson Lodge No. 368 AF&AM of Opdyke. In addition to his wife, Mr. Williams is survived by two sisters, Jewell Davis of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Paul (Cecile) Pasley of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Williams was a member of Jefferson Lodge No. 368 AF&AM of Opdyke, American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon and Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge No 755. Mr. Williams was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Gerald Williams, Gale Williams and Millard Williams.
