Samuel Martin Williams
Samuel Martin Williams, 63, Mt. Vernon, died 3:25 p.m. Oct. 10, 1991, at John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Williams was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Thompsonville, a son of Ira and Ruby (Johnson) Williams. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompsonville. Friends may call 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Williams is survived by two sons, John R. Williams and wife, Rhonda, and Samuel E. Williams, all of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Jennie) Cockrum and Mrs. Louis (Mona) Ferando, both of Benton, and Mrs. Kim Mendoza of Vacaville, Calif.; three half brothers, Dale Carney and Dean Carney, both of Benton, and James Carney of Bonnie; two stepsisters, Flori Carney of Benton and Flossie Carney of California; two stepbrothers, Roy Carney of Chicago Heights and Ray Carney of Benton; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1376 of Mt. Vernon, and of American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents; one stepbrother, Ramson Carney; and one brother, Lee Williams. Source: Unknown |
