Virgil M. Williams
Virgil M. Williams, 95, of Mt. Vernon died 2:15 a.m. Nov. 11, 2005, at Casey Care Center in Mt. Vernon. He was a retired factory worker. Mr. Williams was born March 17, 1910, to John Logan Green and Luetta (Levall) Williams. In May 1928 he married Etta (Witzel) Williams; she died Jan. 17, 1988. On April 9, 1989, he married Muriel Reininger; she died July 27, 2005. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at East Salem Baptist Church. The Revs. Richard McCormick and Lee Redfern will officiate. Burial will follow at East Salem Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon and after 1 p.m. Sunday at East Salem Baptist Church. Mr. Williams is survived by two sons, Deanie Williams and wife Phyllis of Mt. Vernon and Carl Williams and wife Debbie of Ina; a stepson, Ron L. Reininger of Daytona Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Tanya McPheeters and husband Tom of Mt. Vernon, Tammy Owens and husband Pat of Dale, Ind., Stefan Williams and wife Kim of Sesser, Clichelle Poole and husband Todd of Mt. Vernon, Jim Williams and wife Teresa of Hazelhurst, Wis., and Carl Williams Jr. of South Elgin; a step-grandson, Jim Eldridge and wife Sonya of Ewing; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, two brothers and four sisters. Mr. Williams was a member of East Salem Baptist Church.
