IN MEMORY OF: Wanda Lee Williamson

Wanda Lee Williamson, age 84, of Opdyke, IL. died at 6:45 am Thursday April 16, 2009 at Residential Living Center in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Williamson was born on June 26, 1924 in Jefferson County to Nelson and Verne (Clemens) Gowler.

She married Reed Williamson on July 15, 1943 at Southside Christian Church in Hammond, IN.

Wanda worked for Liberty Petroleum Company and Community Broadcasting for 35 years.

She is survived by a son, Bob Williamson and wife, Patty, of Mt. Vernon; a grandson, Nelson Williamson of Mt. Vernon; three great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Hayden, and Celestte Williamson; a special nephew, Kevin Richardson and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Reed, and one sister, Mildred Rainwater.

Funeral services will be held Sunday April 19 at 1 pm at Newell Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Holland and Brother Jeff Harrell officiating and burial to follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 until 8 pm Saturday April 18 at Newell Funeral Home. For those wishing, memorials may be made to VNA Tip Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
