George W. Wills
George W. Wills, son of Joseph P. Wills and Harriet Duncan Wills was born January 3rd, 1853, in Trigg County, Kentucky. At age 19, he came to the vicinity of Spring Garden and on March 29, 1876 was married to Nancy F, Peavler, who preceded him in death on October 17, 1925. To this union was born 9 children, 4 of whom died in infancy. For more than 40 years, Mr. Wills conducted a general store in the village of Spring Garden where he established a reputation for honesty and square dealing that covered nearly all of Jefferson County. He was postmaster many years. He was very patient in his suffering and seemed to get much consolation the last few years reading his bible and singing the old hymns. In his departure, he leaves to mourn his loss 5 children - Edward of St. Louis, Taylor of Benton, Gladys Leatherman of Woodland, Paul of Spring Garden and Thelma Rice of Nebo, besides eleven grand children and 5 great grand children and a sister besides other relatives and a host of friends. Obituary of George Washington Wills, which was read at his funeral in the Spring Garden church August 1940. He was interred at the Fitzgerald Cemetery in Spring Garden.
