George W. Wilson
The body of George W. Wilson 60, a former Jefferson county resident was found shot through the head at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the rear of a home where he was a border on RFD 3, Creal Springs, Ill. He had apparently committed suicide, according to Sherriff Lawrence Cannon and Deputy Virgil Yewell. Mr. Wilson had been ill since last August and had only recently returned from the Soldier's Home at Quincy. He was a veteran of World War I. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Myers Chapel in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Marsh Harpole will officiate an burial will be in the South Hickory Hill cemetery. The services will be in charge of the V.F.W. The body will remain at Myers Chapel,where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Sunday. Mr. Wilson, was born February 26, 1890 in Jefferson county, the son of John and Evaline (Darnell) Wilson. He was a farmer. Surviving are a brother, Norval Wilson, and a sister Mrs. Allie Phelps of Mt. Vernon.
