Glenn H. "Mutt" Wilson
Glenn H. "Mutt" Wilson, 91, of Mt. Vernon died 11:25 p.m. Jan. 26, 2005, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was owner/operator of Wilson Motors Wrecker and Body Shop for many years. Mr. Wilson was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Jefferson County to Joseph and Vesta (Dees) Wilson. He married Geraldine "Gerry" (Burton) Wilson July 27, 1956, in Jefferson County; she survives. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Revs. Clifford Hicks and Jerry "Fuzzy" Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. A Shrine walk through will be held at 8 p.m. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Wilson of Mt. Vernon; children Bobbie G. Wilson and wife Sandra of Mt. Vernon, Jerry L. Wilson and wife Barbara of Robinson, Larry Wayne Wilson and wife Velma Jean of Lakeland, Fla., Glenda Joyce Burton and husband Charles "Bud" of Mt. Vernon and Marilyn Joyce Sendelbach and special friend Dale Martin of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Billy Joe Wilson and wife Jessie of Walnut Hill; a sister, Marieta Fay Wells of Bonnie; sisters-in-law Mildred Wilson of Mt. Vernon and Harriete Wilson of Kansas City, Kan; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Ballard. He is also survived by grandchildren Vickie L. Hiatt and husband Doug, Diane Rose and husband Ray, Sandra Sendelbach, Joyce Kramm and husband Doug, Michael Sendelbach and wife April, Rory Wilson and wife Dana, Shawn Wiggins and husband Jeff, Glenn D. "Sparkie" Wilson and wife Susan, Gary Wilson and wife Hope, Angela Smith and husband Roy, Vince Wilson and wife Angela, Bob Burton and wife Dana, David Burton and wife Tamara and Matthew Burton and wife Tracy; great-grandchildren Joey Warren, Shane Hiatt, Sgt. Quinton Hiatt, MSMC, Michelle Hiatt, Desirae Murdoch and husband Tyler, Danara Burks, Dariane Rose, Ariel Hale, Amanda Kramm, Jason Kramm, Makayla Sendelbach, Kriston Wilson, Aryn Wiggins, Chris Wilson, Mike Wilson, Nicole Wilson Boling, Tayler Faith Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Luke Burton, Noah Burton, Andy Burton, William Wilson, Michael Wilson, Kelsi Burton, Casey Burton, Joseph Burton, Ashley Wilson, Savanna Wilson, William Wilson, Stile Smith, Brogan Smith, Jaxson Smith and Levi Smith; and great-great-grandchildren Tatum Murdoch, Gilliam Hiatt, Aumlie Murdoch, Emma McCormick and Audrey Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gale Wilson, Lowell Wilson and Byford Wilson; a sister, Vivian Ballard; two great-granddaughters, Kecia and Chelsea Heise; and a son-in-law, Don Sendelbach. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31 A.F. & A.M.; Ainad Shrine Temple; and East St. Louis, Jefferson County Shrine and Jefferson County Shrine Krazy Klowns. Many years ago he had a band called Mutt's Drifters and enjoyed playing with that band. He enjoyed playing banjo, working on antique cars and loved children.
