Richard D. Wilson, 76, of Mt. Vernon, died at 9:16 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at his home.

He was born in Bonnie on Nov. 4, 1930, the son of Henry Dale and Floey Alice (Wells) Wilson.

He married Shirley (Beaty) on Nov. 5, 1949; she survives.

Mr. Wilson worked for Barber Green in Aurora for 26 years, and then for Caterpillar. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Avon Park, Fla., and attended Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Shirley Wilson of Mt. Vernon; children Debra McNutt and husband Tom of Rexford, Mont., Rick Wilson and wife Vickie of Sandwich, Shannon Easley and husband Jeff of Aurora, Brian Wilson of Bonnie and Barry Wilson and wife Rosa of Aurora; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carrie; a son, Coy; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Kirk Cemetery in Ina with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Those attending the service are requested to meet at the cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Johnston Funeral Home in Ina is in charge of arrangements.
