James L. Winfree Sr.
James L. WINFREE, Sr., died yesterday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock at his home in this city. Mr. WINFREE had been in poor health for the last year and his condition had been serious for the last ten days. Mr. WINFREE was 82 years old and was born in Tennessee, but came to Illinois early in life and the remainder of his life was spent in this state. Mr. WINFREE was a member of the Wesley M.E. Church, with which he had been afflicted many years. He was a quiet unobtrusive man, but a good citizen and a faithful Christian. He belonged to no orders but was greatly attached to the church and all it stood for, and he was held in the highest respect by all who knew him. Mr. WINFREE was twice married and is survived by his second wife. The following children were born to his first union: Mrs. Edith GARAGAS & Mrs. Lula MORRIS of Benton; & Mrs. Ida MANLEY of St. Louis. The following children were born to the second union: Mrs. George MANLEY, Mrs. Lillie MONETT, the latter of Denver, Colo.; Charles P. WINFREE, Jas. L. WINFREE, Jr., and Mrs. Ora HOGUE of Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at Wesley Church at 2 o'clock p.m., conducted by the Rev. J. C. KINISON, Rev. Chas. ATCHISON and Rev. J. A. BELL. Friends may view the body at the church between the hours of 1 & 2 o'clock p.m. tomorrow.
