Alta Bell (Norris) Wood
Alta Wood Funeral services for Mrs. Alta Bell Wood, 86, of Woodlawn, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers Chapel, with burial in Memorial Gardens. GThe body will lie instate at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 5 p.m. today. Mrs. Wood was found dead at her home on Green Street in Woodlawn at 9 a.m. Thursday. Coroner John Richardson said she apparently died of a stroke during the night. She was born in Jefferson County on Mar. 20, 1884, the daughter of E. J. and Emma (Gilbert) Norris. She amraried Morton Wood on Nov. 24, 1907. He preceded her in death in 1966. Survivors include a daughgter, Mary Edity Payne of Woodlawn; three sisters, Mrs. Lora Mannen, MRs. Arletta Sulcer, and Mrs. Nina Smith, all of Waltonville; a granddaughgter, Mrs. Sharon Heinzl of Belleville; and a great granddaughter, Angela Heinzl of Belleville. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.
