Leonard L. Yandell

Leonard L. Yandell, a well known Mt. Vernon grocer for many years, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Mr. Yandell, of 124 north Sixth street, was 72 years, five months and 29 days of age.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Eugene Estes and the Rev. M. Q. Connett will officiate and burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call at any time after 4:00 pm today.

For years Mr. Yandell was foundry superintendent at the Mt. Vernon Car Company. He later operated Yandell's Market, at Fifth and Harrison, for many years. He was a member of the A-G Stores Association.

He was born February 17, 1892 in Jefferson county, the son of James T. and Sarah Elizabeth (King) Yandell.

On October 10, 1912 he was married in Jefferson county, to Mabel Buescher, who survives.

Mr. Yandell was a member of the Epworth Methodist Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Merle Phillips of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Leonora Garrison, of Libertyville, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Staley Colton of Mt. Vernon; and three grandchildren.
