Lucy (Yearwood) Yearwood
Mrs. Lucy YEARWOOD, wife of Frank YEARWOOD, was born in Mt. Vernon, January 18th, 1862, and departed this life December 30th, 1917, at the age of 56 y, 11 m. and 12 d. She was united in marriage to Frank YEARWOOD in 1887. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Yearwood, her husband, a brother, Frank YEARWOOD, and five sisters, Mrs. Lulu WILKERSON, Mrs. Mada WARMAN, and Mrs.George SWISHER, all living in Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Sarah MILLER, of Drivers. Mrs. Neoma REAVIS, of East St. Louis, a daughter, Mrs. Blanche TANLER, and little Frank, her grandson, of Springfield, besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her departure. She was converted and joined the M.E. church in the year 1900 during the revival conducted by Rev. J.F. HARMAN, and remained a member of this church until her death. The funeral service was held at weeks, but through prayer she was strengthened until the angel of death came to relieve her. (That is how it is in the paper) The funeral service was held at the First M.E. church, January 1st, 1918, and was conducted by Rev. C.S. MUNDELL, in the absence of her pastor, Dr. J.G. TUCKER, after which her body was laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery.
