Samuel J. Yearwood
Samuel J YEARWOOD, 91, who lived for 80 years at 11th and Park Ave., Mt. Vernon died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Addie Lisenby, 917 South 10th St., where he had been the past 20 days. He was a retired carpenter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Myers Chapel, conducted by Rev. Fred Propst. Burial will be in Sursa Cemetery. Mr. Yearwood was born Feb. 14, 1854, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Yearwood. He is survived by his wife, Rittie Belle, whom he married Nov. 29, 1943; one son John R. Yearwood of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Mrs. Addie Lisenby, of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Lola Starkey of Spring Valley, Ill., and Mrs. Anna Whisel of Terre Alto, W. VA; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. NOTE: * His wife Belva Rita, died Nov. 29, 1943 so above must be mistake. I have copies of both their death certificates.* Source: Mt.
